Our new lovely home ready for you

Positive: The location of this house is convenient for the activities we participate in while in this city. Negative: The house's heater was broken for our entire stay. Upon arriving, we turned the heat on in the house. We went to sleep and woke up in the morning to the house cold. We contacted the number in the booklet and let them know the heater was not blowing warm air. The gentleman said someone would be over within an hour. The handyman arrived about 3 hours later. He told us someone could not get over to fix the heater for 2 days. When the local heating and air company came to fix it on the last full day we were there, we were told that they could have come 2 days earlier but were not contacted by the owners of the house until that day. I'm not sure what the communication issue was. The heat in the house was hard to regulate with the space heaters we were provided. The windows and backdoor were not sealed correctly and were letting in cold air. The hot tub was clean but was too small to accommodate how many guests could stay at this house. The hot water in the house runs out after 3 people shower. The wifi is weak and was not accommodating our needs, which was frustrating. The master bathroom drain to the tub, the shower, and one sink do not drain properly. The tile in the master bathroom is losing its grout. The kitchen needs to be gone through and updated with the utensils and spices that are expired.

What started as an exciting chance to possibly see the aurora borealis turned into a stay best described as beautiful… and very cold.The positives first: the home is clean and aesthetically pleasing inside. Unfortunately, the interior temperature never rose above 66F, even as outside temperatures dropped into the low teens. While stylish, the home struggled to stay warm in winter conditions.There are two electric wall-mounted fireplace heaters (one in the front room and one in the master bedroom) and one portable heater, which suggests the hosts were already acutely aware of the home’s heating limitations. Despite this, one of the king bedrooms was too cold to sleep in, and guests had to use the smaller bedroom with two queen beds to accommodate a warmer sleeping area, where the portable heater ran all night. Sleeping with doors shut was manageable, but stepping into the living room and kitchen in the morning felt like walking into a deep freeze!Check-in is 4:00 PM and checkout 10:00 AM. The hot tub was not ready upon arrival; we later received an email explaining it needed to be manually adjusted. In winter, it would be reasonable to expect it to be ready at check-in. Due to this we could use it! Other notes:Guests are asked to take trash to the city park (Garden City Park) instead of having an on-site container.While the inside is lovely, the outside feels neglected. The stairs are poorly constructed, have holes, and could be considered a safety hazard!
